Sammie’s Friends is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.  The mission of Sammie's Friends is to provide medical care for the animals at the Nevada County Animal Shelter, making them adoptable, and to support other disadvantaged animals in Nevada County that without help would continue to suffer or would be euthanized.  Sammie’s Friends also operates the Nevada County Animal Shelter at 14647 McCourtney Road.

We have found homes for more than 10,000 animals since July 2010!

Participants raise donations by collecting pledges from sponsors.  Sponsors can be anybody— friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, classmates, etc.  Before the walk-a-thon, talk to potential sponsors about donating (or pledging) a certain amount of money for every lap that you complete.  The WAG-N-WALK-A-THON is a 1/4 mile paved loop for you to walk with your furry friend (or come without your pet).  It doesn’t matter how large or small their pledge is!  They can set a maximum pledge if they want.  An example of this is, if they pledge $5 a lap and you walked a total of 15 laps, then they would donate $75, unless they set a maximum pledge.

Being a sponsor is a great way to get involved and support Sammie’s Friends, even if you can’t participate in the walk-a-thon or can’t make it out to the event.  Having walkers is a huge part of making this fundraiser a success, but sponsors are equally important!

Remember, the top three participants who raise the most money will be receiving a prize.  So get out there and get sponsors!
